This sculpture represents the battle between the subconscious and the conscious. Here the dark force diametrically opposes the vitality of Life. Hence the symbolic interplay of black and red. The Devil emerges and takes form from within the egg shape as it cracks; the egg represents the perfect form, the untarnished purity of life before birth.
